As some of you may have noticed, we have finally finished our much needed portfolio update, as well as re-constructed our entire website from scratch, and if you’re reading this … you’ve also noticed that we now have a blog!
Since blogging is completely new to us, and I’m not really one with words, it’s tough to say exactly what you can expect from here on out, but we’re going to do our best to keep it interesting and post new content as often as we can. However, I can tell you what our initial thoughts are. You’ll definitely see a good amount of our wedding photography throughout our blog, but I think it might be safe to say that there will be an eclectic mix of content throughout our posts. There’s a good chance that you might see a little bit of our personal lives mixed in with the business side of our lives. We would also like to use this as an outlet for everyone to get to know us a little more “behind the scenes”, to give you a sense of who we are as people, as well as photographers. You can expect to see some personal projects among our commissioned work, and some days we might even give you something a little bit deeper to digest.
As of lately, we’ve been diving head first into the unknown with a lot of different things that we have been meaning to do for a long time. Although I don’t I would say that we were officially settled in any sort of a comfort zone, but we have definitely been holding back from jumping into some ideas which we knew nothing about. For starters, take this website for example. Instead of creating a page with WordPress (which is somewhat like opening pandora’s box if you are completely foreign to it), we could have very easily created a site with Squarespace. Of course there is nothing wrong with creating a site with Squarespace, but it can be slightly limiting. We also had a vision for what we wanted the site to look like, and wanted to make sure it was a bit more unique than a simple template driven site. It has taken us a little over three months to get everything up and running and we’ve learned a lot in the process. I know that we will continue to keep learning as time passes, and I’m really proud of the outcome of all of our hard work.
We have also been wanting to participate in a bridal show or wedding expo for quite some time, and agreed about a year and a half ago that we should start purchasing items for our booth one by one. That way, when we were ready – we would have everything ready to go when the time was right. Thankfully, planing ahead so far in advance paid off when we decided to take part in our first bridal show, this past weekend. The Southbury Bridal show at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury, CT was a huge success for us, and a great first experience. We met some really great couples, made some new friends, and had a fair amount of traffic at our booth. I will admit that it was extremely stressful preparing some final details and overcoming some last minute obstacles, but it all worked out in the end.
Looking forward, we are really excited for what 2016 has in store for us. We have a lot of awesome couples who we are incredibly thankful to have crossed paths with, and can’t wait to see what kind of special memories we will have the honor of creating for them!
