You know that saying, ‘work hard play hard’? That is the literal definition of Mike and Megan. They both work extremely long hours and Megan is getting her graduate degree at UConn on top of it all. And somehow, at some point they decided they’d make the time to plan one of the most entertaining weddings we’ve ever had the pleasure of working. We’ve found that the ones who are the most dedicated and passionate about their careers, are the ones who know how to really let loose and live in the moment.
When they first sat down with us and explained that their reception was going to be at a location that doesn’t typically host weddings, The Stamford Nature Center in Stamford, Connecticut, we got a true sense of just how unique these two are. They came up with the idea to have less seats than there were guests in order to discourage sitting around and encourage dancing and getting to know new people instead. This idea literally blew our minds and we couldn’t figure out how or why no one else had ever thought of it! Their wedding hashtag on Instagram, #Finafest blew up in a matter of minutes with pictures of friends shot-gunning beers, eating hors d’oeuvres by the river while listening to steel drums, and even some adventurous guests wandering off to explore the petting zoo on site.
The main goal that they expressed to us from the beginning of our relationship with them was that they wanted their wedding day to be fun for everyone. They weren’t concerned about having the perfect ceremony, the spot-on ‘rustic’ decorations or having us tackle a laundry list of must-have Pinterest-inspired photos. They simply wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and celebrate their life-long love along side them on such a special day.
We loved being able to share in this special day with the whole Fina Fest crew and want to personally thank them for making us feel like a part of the Fina family.
